On Wednesday night, February 12, Doctor Lambert Vinken passed away after a short period of sickness. He would have been 99 years old this year.
Together with priest Jan Coninx, he founded the European Music Festival for Young People in Neerpelt, Belgium, in 1953.
Under his leadership, the festival quickly went from a small local event to one of the biggest festivals in its kind, bringing together thousands of young people from the five continents.
Dr. Vinken’s message to ‘’Make beautiful music and meet each other in peace" will continue to resonate across the world.
Official magazine of the International Federation for Choral Music, the International Choral Magazine is published quarterly in the four official languages of IFCM: English, French, German and Spanish. It is distributed in more than 80 countries on the five continents and is the official voice of choral music around the world.
