Co-hosted by the Inner Mongolia Bureau of National Art Troupes and IFCM, the Inner Mongolia (China) Belt and Road Choral Festival will be held from July 13 to 17, 2018, in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia. The festival will include performances over three days with selected international choirs as well as Inner Mongolia’s talented Mongolian Youth Choir.

Like us, you strongly believe that collective singing has a positive impact on individuals and provides benefits for society. But can you prove it, with scientific evidence? Wouldn’t it be a useful to have solid data to convince others to join, support and fund (y)our favourite activity? To help the sector, we decided to lead a scientific effort of collecting, evaluating and sharing the existing researches and studies on the "Benefits of Collective Singing". With your help and the collaboration of Volker Hagemann, a researcher from the University of Würzburg, we plan to produce a comprehensive review of the existing science on the topic.

The 2017 China (Qiandongnan) International Folk Song Choral Festival and the IFCM Voices Conference will be held in Xiasi Ancient Town and Kaili City, Qiandongnan state, Guizhou province from July 27 to 30. The festival is co-sponsored by the Qiandongnan government and IFCM.

Beijing, China, 19 July to 25 July 2018 As you read in our last IFCMeNEWS, the four top choirs invited to the China International Chorus Festival in July are now selected. This week, let’s discover Pannon Voices Mixed Choir! Founded in 2017, Pannon Voices Mixed Choir is composed of singers that are all music teachers. Their reputation came soon after, as they were awarded first Prize at the Budapest International Choral Festival the same year. Their repertoire includes Hungarian music from the last centuries, preserved manuscripts of Hungarian composers in the Romanticism, contemporary works as well as manuscripts of 19th century female composers. Pannon Voices Mixed Choir mainly performs works of Hungarian composers, such as Ferenc Liszt, Béla Bartók, Zoltán Kodály, and Lajos Bárdos.

Women’s music is an essential part of world heritage. The fundamental role of women in the creation and transmission of tangible and intangible cultural heritage and the creation and practice of music belongs not only to a people or a culture, but to all of humanity. The UN Human Rights Office celebrates the 70th Anniversary of the Adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (10thDecember 1948) and has launched a worldwide campaign to promote, engage and reflect on human rights. Gender inequality in the field of music is a worldwide challenge. Sustaining the women creating music will influence public opinion and  stimulate their full participation in cultural life. Fondazione Adkins Chiti: Donne in Musica has organised a “Global Call for New Music” for women composers and creators of music of all ages, nationalities and musical backgrounds.

The World Youth Choir Foundation held their annual meeting on April 13-15 in Bonn, Germany. Beside working on the details of the next session in Inner Mongolia and China (4-25 July), the Board members planned sessions up until 2020. A very fruitful meeting!
