Musica International: Programming Female Composers' Pieces
Published: Feb 28,2022

In conversations with choral leaders and in writings about the activities of choirs worldwide, it is apparent that the topic of diversity in choral repertoire planning is a special interest and focus. Evidence of the importance of this heightened interest in diversity is an increased Inclusion of works by female composers in concert programs. It is not surprising that there is a myriad of extraordinary pieces written by women, for all choral settings and for any type of concert theme. These compositions are simply not known widely.

The Musica International database is a very good place to start looking for such works. All you have to do is to set the filter in the ‘More Criteria’ search form. Musica will then list over 11,000 choral works composed by women! Given this large result, it certainly makes sense to select additional categories in the search form to customize the results to your specific needs. Would you like to add information about choral music composed by women to Musica?
