THE SHANGHAI COOPERATION ORGANIZATION COUNTRIES YOUTH CHOIR
Hohhot, Inner Mongolia, China, 24 June – 7 July 2019
IFCM, in cooperation with the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), is excited to announce the first SCO Countries’ Youth Choir which will convene this summer in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia, China (June 24 – July 7, 2019). This special project hopes to bring 60-70 singers (ages 19-35) from the 18 countries comprising the SCO for an outstanding educational and social experience. The countries associated with the SCO network include eight member states (Kazakhstan, China, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, India, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan), four observer states (Afghanistan, Belarus, Iran, Mongolia), and six dialogue partners (Azerbaijan, Cambodia, Nepal, Armenia, Turkey and Sri Lanka).
Following a week of rehearsal with two internationally-renowned choral conductors, André de Quadros and Maria Goundorina, the SCO Countries’ Youth Choir will perform at the SCO Countries’ Choral Festival in Hohhot. During the choral festival, the choir will give concerts in Hohhot and surrounding cities. As well, there is a plan to perform in Beijing prior to the festival itself.
Official magazine of the International Federation for Choral Music, the International Choral Magazine is published quarterly in the four official languages of IFCM: English, French, German and Spanish. It is distributed in more than 80 countries on the five continents and is the official voice of choral music around the world.
